What we love to do at Yoga in Motion...
At Yoga in Motion, we practice a unique and functional style called "Vinyasa flow" Yoga.
This style, in essence, is one of the 4 basic elements (principles), of the classical form of
Astanga Yoga, known for its vigorous style and therapeutic value. Staying true to these basic
elements, Vinyasa flow however lends itself to the interpretation of creative expression and so
deviates from the more rigorous and to some extent monotonous aspect of Astanga, allowing
for that surprise element in each practice. No one Vinyasa practice is ever the same.
Variety adds spice to life they say...
Vinyasa flow is a unique combination of mindful breathing and flowing movements, connecting to
and moving through a well designed and balanced sequence of postures. Flowing and
synchronized breathing produce heat. Heat opens our frames. Heat makes for greater flexibility,
allowing our bodies to become softer and more pliable, conducive to the unwinding of tight joints
and the release of chronic muscle tension. Through consistent practice we train our bodies and
minds to become strong and flexible, balanced and tension free. In addition, Yoga practice offers
a measurable reduction in our stress levels, and does so in the most natural and soothing way.
It is never too late to practice. Yoga is for all ages, for any shape, size and gender.
We offer Intro to Gentle Yoga classes, for the person who is new to Yoga, Intro to Beginner flow,
Beginner flow, Mixed level flow, Intermediate/Strength flow, and our popular Yoga-core-focus
(abs) class offered every Saturday at 9:15am.
If you are new to Yoga and somewhat reluctant, simply start where you are and the practice
will meet you there. The atmosphere at our studio is inviting, warm and non-judgmental.
